TARA BITRAN

Writer, Editor, Trivia Obsessive, Awards Nerd, Special Needs Advocate, & Singer

Currently Calls LA Home

Hello hello! I'm Tara Bitran, a born and raised LA native with New Yorker transplant parents (Fair warning: I pronounce orange like "ARE-ange.") I'm a professional entertainment writer and editor who loves peanut butter and period dramas, not to mention Fleabag and Succession. I've been known to throw a themed party or two centered around my favorite shows...

I have been a founding writer for Netflix's editorial companion site Tudum since June 2021. Before joining Netflix, I worked primarily at the trades. At The Hollywood Reporter, my main beat consisted of awards coverage. I assisted in planning out the magazine's standalone awards issues, performing interviews, writing pieces, and covering the Golden Globes and Emmy Awards backstage. I also managed the videos and copy edited THR's acclaimed roundtable series. At Variety , I covered breaking entertainment news and industry events, in addition to conducting video interviews with Shawn Mendes, Amandla Stenberg, Lili Reinhart, Kristen Stewart and Chloe Sevigny.

I have crafted questions for Trivia Flix, an outlet where I fully applied my IMDb obsession and love of Turner Classic Movies. Additionally, I have written TV stories for new startup entertainment site, The Dipp, trading in nostalgic content (Once Upon a TimeGilmore Girls, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer) and contemporary favorites (SuccessionBridgerton, and The Queen's Gambit).

Besides entertainment writing, I also pen pieces on food, travel, and lifestyle. While studying abroad in London for my degree in Communication and Cinematic Arts from the University of Southern California, I wrote a travel blog, "London Called, I Answered." I highlighted my love affair with Borough Market, journaling in Hyde Park, and the complexity of living as an expat during the 2016 election. Upon my return, I began writing for USC's chapter of Spoon University, and was named one of the Top 50 writers across the nation. I also was an early writer for Spy, an ecommerce site for Penske Media Corporation.

Offline, my interests include singing and theater (yes, I was a member of my high school's a cappella group pre the Pitch Perfect trend). I am also very passionate about advocating for special needs, as my sister is on the autism spectrum.

Please feel free to peruse my website to learn more about my experience and see clips of my published work. Cheers!
